Suing the Ice You Slipped On

Why not just start punishing the owners of restaurants where people meet before consensual underage sex because one or both is lying about their age?

It's just got an extra http// on it. If you copy and paste the text in the address bar it'll bring up the story...

Anyway, something about all this leaves me uncomfortable -- not that MySpace is to blame for the actions of its users -- just that kids these days see no problem in lying and getting themselves into these situations. Not only that, but also that their parents would allow that to happen, at the very least by remaining ignorant of what's going on in their childrens' lives.

I guess it's just one of those things that drives home that phrases about the "moral decay of society" are more than just lunatic ideas in the minds of paranoid conservatives.

And what happened to parents monitoring their children's Internet activities?

You know, there are handly little devices on computers that let you track websites visited, block questionable content, and even filter searches. But apparently, it takes too much time for a parent to do those little things.

So I guess taking five minutes here and there to monitor your kid's behavior by either walking in the room or having the computer in an open space is way too much to ask, huh?

Especially, and forgive me for sounding old-fashioned, if it's your DAUGHTER!

Man, twenty-five years ago (before I was born, to be sure, but still) fathers were ridiculously defensive of their daughters in some cases. Now they're just letting go...

Damn you, Disney Channel! Damn you!
