The Measurements of Victory
Are conservatives winning? Yes we are. But we have not won yet. We will have won when...
1. The press no longer places a politician's sniveling about an entirely one-sided war in our favor on the front page, while the list of towns we've liberated that day goes on page 6b in the bottom corner (if it's in the paper at all)
2. Reporters think it's a good idea to mention good news (85% retention rate) as much as they mention bad news (25% failure to meet recruiting standards), especially when the two are so closely related.
3. Insane left-wing crazies are labelled just as often as the insane right-wing crazies.
4. It dosen't take the NYT years to fire a reporter that they know is just making up stories.
5. One can find a liberal blog that actually makes coherent sense.
6. One can find a liberal *in Congress* that actually makes coherent sense.
7. Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton are not even feasible options to be elected.
8. Neither is David Duke, for that matter.
9. Nobody considers race when hiring or applying to college.
10. Washington spends more time paying attention to people with jobs and lives than those that have little enough to do that they can spend weeks lying in a ditch in protest.
11. Paid reporters with college degrees and writing skills can report the news more accurately than a "news militia" writing from its basement.
12. People quit resorting to that "both sides" BS whenever one or the other party steps way, way out of line.
13. I can own a gun when I'm living in a place where the gangs aren't even afraid enough to stop wearing their colors in broad daylight.
14. The government dosen't take half of my paycheck to fund drug addicts and play social God.
15. The government quits trying to play God at all, really, and just leaves people to get on with their business.
16. Most of political debate will not be giving out information that people ought to know but the news refuses to report.
17. The biggest headache in my life can be caring for my family, not how I'm going to figure out the tax code.
18. Nine unelected people (literally unelected people) who cannot be fired and never have to worry about public opinion or reelection cannot give my personal property over to a corporation.
19. "I don't want the government to do it" dosen't mean "I don't want it to happen" and people don't assume such.
20. People will understand that voting without having researched the candidates is worse than not voting at all.
Anything I missed? Slap 'em in the comments for me.

That real argument about the seperation of church and state is the difference between religous expression and religous imposition, which means crosses on public land do not impose on anyone to believe in anything.
From Sir Exal ;)
21. When other conservatives are absolute morons, or they do something absoutely moronic that they make an excuse using a conservative excuse, others will be able to call them out without fear of being blasted by the party.
22. Michael Savage will be off the air.
23. Or killed.
24. Please.
Hear hear, Sir Exal. When Savage and Falwell and Pat Robertson aren't our spokesmen, we'll win all the more.
25. When conservatives aren't outcast at their places of business or universities simply for being conservative.
26. When the best argument against being conservative is calling us "monobrow moron from Fundieville" (courtesy Mark Shea).
27. When parents can raise their children as they see fit, even if said children attend a public school. Since so many public schools attempt to indoctrinate children into liberal thinking (or worshipping as a Muslim), conservatives will be successful when parents can say "No, I don't want my child learning that." And get away with it.
28. When Cindy Sheehan moves to France. Or Iraq. Or anywhere that isn't America. Or is dropped off a cliff.
Even if she dosen't leave... when Democrats get the hell away from her for fear of being associated with what she's saying instead of electing her spokeswoman, we'll be good.
When sedition is a punishable crime, rather thatn something that is extolled as "Freedom of Speech" and can get you reelected or makes you a media darling.

You should really put Card's column on your list of links.
